Bells Elementary School Students Get a Lesson in Her-Story During Pioneer Assembly.
History stepped off the pages of textbooks and onto the stage at Bells Elementary School in Blackwood, NJ. Through storytelling and performance, the ‘HerStory’ assembly introduced students to the scientists, activists, and adventurers who changed the world, leaving the young audience buzzing with new ambitions.”
“The music and video were really good,” a young viewer said about an inspiring morning! The high-energy show was more than just a history lesson—it was an invitation to join the fun! Kids were encouraged to dive in through music and song, making the experience truly interactive. Students didn’t just hear about history; they watched it come to life through captivating video and archival film, hearing the powerful stories of these pioneering women in their own words.
Teacher Angela Donato celebrates with students.
Teacher and assembly coordinator Angela Danato invited Key Arts to participate in the school’s celebration of International Women’s History Month, an annual commemoration in March. The “HerStory” program transformed the auditorium into an interactive classroom where history felt more alive than ever. Our students were captivated by the legacies of remarkable women who reshaped American history and our world, including Harriet Tubman, Susan B. Anthony, Ruby Bridges, Sarah Winnemucca, and many more.
“Our students were mesmerized by ‘HerStory.’ It didn’t just teach them facts; it sparked a real conversation about how they can be the next generation of history-makers.” — 3rd Grade Teacher
